The date will be March 29, 2006.
The locations will include sub-Saharan and North Africa, Turkey, the Crimean region, Kazakhstan and central Russia.

Eleven and a half years later, the Moon's shadow will traverse the length of the Lower 48 United States. The date will be August 21, 2017.

The duration of totality for this eclipse will vary from 90 seconds on the Oregon coast, up to 150 seconds on the beach in South Carolina. The maximum duration of totality will take place near Eddyville, Kentucky (approx. coordinates: 37.0N, 87.6W), just to the north of Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Totality at this location will begin at 1:24:08 pm local time and last for two minutes and 40 seconds. The width of the path of totality will be 115 km (71 miles).
