On Friday I posted the photos of Mercury and the Moon in conjunction, mentioning that Venus and Luna would be even closer tonight. To the photos:

Here in Northern Illinois, the two bodies were closest around 10 p.m. Clouds were obscuring the Moon at that time, but Venus was still pin sharp and brilliant.

gorgeous...really. in celntral ohio the moon was really crisp at around 10 30 and venus looked like it was attached to the tip of the moon by a 2 inch string
Here is what it looked like in Montreal. I did not have advance knowledge that Venus would be *so* close to the moon otherwise I would have tried to get a skyline shot of the city with this "conjunction". I did expect it to be quite close though due to observations of its position on previous nights. The photos were taken with a Nikon D70s DSLR and an old Panagor 400mm lens at f/11 or so.
