Yangsan maehwa

While we visited a blossom festival in Yangsan, north of Miryang in Gyeongnam province, my companions referred to most of the flowers as baekggot, which are camellias.

These appear identical to the plum blossoms seen here.

Plums, Apricots, so befuddling!
The two are closely related and can cross pollinate to create...'Plumpricots' (the name works for me); but Camellias? Sounds curious - maybe there are native species which are very different than the 'common' ornamentals....interesting.

Yeah, those certainly are not camellia blossoms. I think that it was just a misidentification. I'll casually ask Korean what this or that flower is, and most of the time the response is "I don't know."
