Harmony

It was just a couple of days ago that I received a message with the title "Harmonic Concordance" from a friend. I figured (for some strange reason) that it was going on right then and I deleted the message. Fortunately, I've received several more in the last day or so and now I'm paying attention.

I had known for sometime that there was going to be a total lunar eclipse on Saturday, Nov. 8. I'd talked about going back to Ohio to see it -- first to last contact will be visible in the Eastern US and Canada -- and then to celebrate my niece's third birthday the next day. Now I will be here.

The eclipse is just an easily observable facet of a larger event that day. The moon, the major asteroid Chiron, and Jupiter; the sun, Saturn and Mars will be placed in a near-on hexagonal arrangement... a Grand Sextile. Visually, this is pretty arresting -- to see a six-pointed star manifest among between planetary bodies. It actually reminds me quite a bit of my niece's chart, which also has interlocking trines.

Anyhow, this event has been dubbed the Harmonic Concordance... for reasons that are best explained by those who are more informed.* Most of my knowledge or appreciation for astrology is intuitive and subjective, and I find it hard to convey imports and meanings to others. The first few paragraphs of Sean David Morton's analysis (http://www.daath.111.nl/docs/Harmonic_Concordance_08_11_2003.htm) were exactly what I needed to see in order to pay attention. I hope that you will appreciate the key point: To focus one's intention and actions in the best, most positive and open manner.

The event this weekend, centered on the beginning of totality at 20:12 EST, can be considered a potent time to assess and express one's being and its relation to others**... our connectedness and interdependence. How to live beyond fear and desire and violence.

Reading through some things, I see a thread to what I've been drawing and rendering for the last five years; how I've come to read certain texts and take on certain practices. It's a little more clear. And I hope that this clarity and purpose will become more intense and more sustaining in the near future.

"It is obvious that a transformation needs to happen on this beleaguered world of ours, and the logical place to start is in terms of right relationship with ourselves and with each other. As the relationship energy represented by Venus comes together with the intensely transformative energy of Pluto in one focus of this incredible pattern, we move one step closer to healing the polarities between individuals and nations. Only when the polarities are balanced will we find the peace within our own hearts that translates out into a more peaceful world."
