Pumpkin moon

Hmm... yes, the moon had risen above the Cascades around 5 pm, but my friend Barbie and I were unable to see it because we were A) looking in the wrong direction, toward the SE; and B) the one tree tall enough to block our terrace view was the one from behind which the moon ascended.
I had figured the clouds were too thick at one point and I turned the telescope toward Mars. It's interesting, how quickly it has receded since August. I glanced away from the planet and then I saw the ghost moon floating above the top of that cedar. "Ohhhhhhh! There it is!"
And so Barbie and her mother came out and we trained camera, DV and telescope on it. I was in my usual eclipse quandry: Watch it or photograph it? It's amazing that I manage to get anything on film during these events.
The image above is substandard, but that isn't just because I was riding a wave of excitation. There were problems at the lab (and hopefully not a light leak in the camera), and the whole roll was marred. You might be able to see faint green stripes. It's much more intense in the negative; I just dropped the green levels in Photoshop.
